T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach recently confirmed that they are engaged, revealing the news on their podcast Amy & T.J. They said they’ve been engaged for “just about a month now” and emphasized they wanted to share it on their terms, after years of public scrutiny around their relationship.

The announcement comes nearly three years after their romantic involvement became public in late 2022. At the time, photos were published showing Holmes and Robach in affectionate settings, sparking speculation that they had begun a relationship while still married to other partners. Holmes was married to attorney Marilee Fiebig since 2010, and Robach to actor Andrew Shue since 2010 as well.

Holmes and Robach have maintained that by the time their relationship became public, both were already separated from their spouses and that there was no overlap with the formal commitments of their marriages. ABC News launched an internal investigation, removed them from their GMA3 anchor roles and ultimately parted ways with them in January 2023, citing the relationship as a disruption and internal/external distraction.

The backlash was intense. Some former ABC colleagues reportedly distanced themselves from Holmes and Robach following the scandal. On their podcast, the couple said many staffers who initially showed support quietly withdrew once it became clear they would not be returning to ABC. They’ve described the atmosphere as “ghosting” from former colleagues during and after the fallout.

Both divorces were finalized in 2023. Robach’s separation from Andrew Shue was complete by March 2023, and Holmes’ divorce from Marilee Fiebig was finalized in October 2023. Meanwhile, in a twist that drew public attention, Shue and Fiebig later entered a romantic relationship with one another and even began cohabitating. The pairing of their former spouses added an unexpected chapter to the controversy around Holmes and Robach’s relationship.

Over time, Holmes and Robach have become more open about their journey, launching the Amy & T.J. podcast in December 2023. On it, they’ve addressed difficult moments including public judgment, mental health struggles, navigating privacy and the dynamics of blended families. They have acknowledged regrets over how public their relationship became before the timing felt right and have said they’ve learned lessons about controlling their narrative.
