Taylor Swift has spoken candidly about her recent breakups with Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy in her Disney+ docuseries, The Eras Tour: The End of an Era. The pop star, 36, described experiencing "two breakups in the first half of this tour and that's a lot of breakups, actually" during the fourth episode, highlighting how challenging her personal life was while performing.

"There were points in this tour when the tour was really the only thing keeping me going in my life," Swift admitted. "But there were never points in the tour when I thought, 'Oh I want to quit the tour because the tour is hard.' No, my personal life was hard." She emphasized how the tour gave her "purpose" and helped her "get out of bed" despite everything happening around her, adding, "Men will let you down. The Eras Tour never will."

Swift also reflected on how she processed the emotional turbulence through her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which she described as "everything bad [she] felt for two years" and "a really rough time in [her] life." She explained, "I'm a big conglomerate no one sees as a human being, especially not the men that I date. Nothing works, there is no one for me in the world."

After these breakups, Swift began dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in summer 2023, whom she met during the Eras Tour. The couple announced their engagement in August, with Swift sharing moments from their romance in the documentary, including an emotional phone call featured in episode one. A source told Us Weekly, "Travis has given Taylor a sense of calm. He supports her in ways that she could have never imagined, and he never expects her to perform or curate a persona around him. That kind of ease has given her permission to be her real self."

Swift also praised her team for their support during the challenging period, stating, "It's so wonderful being able to carry a professional family with you as you go through phases of life, as you go through ups and downs and heartbreaks."
