Ray J has revealed that he is facing a serious health battle after being hospitalized earlier this month, telling fans that doctors warned his heart is functioning at just a fraction of its normal capacity.
The 45-year-old singer shared the update in a video posted to Instagram on January 25, explaining that he was recently treated for pneumonia and heart complications after being rushed to a Las Vegas hospital. Ray J said he narrowly survived the ordeal and credited prayers and support from loved ones for pulling him through.
"My heart's only beating at about 25 percent," he said, adding that he is trying to stay focused and committed to recovery. Despite the gravity of his condition, Ray J told followers that he remains hopeful, saying things would be "alright" as long as he stays on the right path.
In subsequent livestreams reshared on social media, the "One Wish" singer appeared more somber, claiming doctors told him he may only have months left to live. At one point, Ray J stated that he was informed he would not make it beyond the next year, though no medical documentation has been publicly released to confirm the claim.
The reality star attributed his heart damage to years of excessive alcohol and drug use, openly acknowledging past behavior he said he believed his body could handle. Ray J admitted that heavy drinking and misuse of prescription stimulants took a lasting toll on his health, saying his confidence led him to ignore warning signs.
During one emotional clip, he reassured viewers that his family would be financially secure regardless of what happens. He said his children and estranged ex-wife, Princess Love, would be taken care of, adding that he had made peace with that responsibility.
Ray J also expressed gratitude toward his parents and sister Brandy, crediting them for stepping in during his recovery. He revealed that Brandy helped cover his expenses while he focuses on medical treatment.
The singer said his condition remains serious and that he was scheduled for further medical evaluations. He emphasized that his story should serve as a warning to others, urging fans to take their health seriously before it is too late.
Ray J previously battled pneumonia during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, marking this as his second major hospitalization for the illness.
