In a series of explosive reports released in early February 2026, Bill Gates has once again been forced to address his historical association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The renewed scrutiny follows the unsealing of a new batch of Department of Justice files that include allegations regarding a private 2013 trip to Europe. The documents allege that during this time, Gates contracted a sexually transmitted infection (STI) from Russian women associated with Epstein and subsequently planned to secretly administer antibiotics to his then-wife, Melinda French Gates.
In a response provided through a spokesperson, Gates adamantly denied the specific allegations of an STI or any plan to medicate his former spouse without her knowledge. However, he utilized the opportunity to reiterate his profound remorse for ever having associated with Epstein in the first place. “I have said it many times before, but it bears repeating: I regret every minute I spent with Jeffrey Epstein,” Gates stated in a written comment. “My goal at the time was purely philanthropic, centered on raising money for global health, but it was a massive mistake in judgment that I will always regret.”
The new filings, which have been circulated widely by investigative outlets, suggest that Epstein may have attempted to use knowledge of Gates’ personal health and private travels as leverage. According to the unsealed testimonies, Epstein allegedly boasted to associates about “managing” a health situation for the billionaire following a meeting with a group of Russian models. The documents further claim that Gates inquired about “discreet” ways to obtain specific antibiotics to prevent a potential transmission to his wife.
Melinda French Gates, who has previously cited Bill’s relationship with Epstein as a factor in their 2021 divorce, has not commented on these specific 2026 allegations. However, in past interviews, she described the association as “abhorrent” and noted that she had made her discomfort with Epstein clear to Bill as early as 2011.
While the Gates Foundation continues to be a global leader in health and climate initiatives, these resurfaced details have once again complicated Bill Gates’ public image. Legal experts suggest that while the allegations in the files are damaging to his reputation, they may not lead to criminal charges given the age of the incidents and the lack of physical evidence beyond the testimony within the unsealed documents.
