Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, the breakout star of MTV’s Jersey Shore, has revealed she is battling stage 1 cervical cancer. The 38-year-old reality television icon and entrepreneur shared the news with her millions of followers on February 23, 2026, during an emotional episode of her podcast, It’s Happening with Snooki & Joey.

Polizzi explained that the diagnosis came after a routine gynecological exam led to a follow-up biopsy. While the news was a significant shock to her and her family, she emphasized that the cancer was detected in its earliest stages. “I’m terrified, but I’m also lucky,” Polizzi told her listeners. “If I hadn’t gone in for my yearly checkup, we wouldn’t have caught it this early. It’s stage 1, which means it’s treatable, and we’re getting ahead of it right now.”

The mother of three (Lorenzo, Giovanna, and Angelo) stated that her primary focus is her health and her children. She used her platform to urge other women, particularly those who may have delayed medical appointments during busy periods of life, to prioritize their screenings and Pap smears. “As moms, we always put ourselves last,” she said. “I’m telling you now, don’t do that. Go to your appointments. This literally saved my life.”

Polizzi confirmed that she will be undergoing a series of procedures and treatments over the coming months to address the localized cancer. While she plans to continue filming for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, she noted that she may step back from some public appearances and “Snooki Shop” events to allow her body time to heal. Her husband, Jionni LaValle, and her longtime castmates have reportedly been a “fortress of support” since the news was shared privately within their circle.

Following the announcement, “Snooki” began trending on social media as fans and fellow celebrities flooded her pages with messages of encouragement. Advocates for cervical cancer awareness have praised her transparency, noting that a high-profile figure sharing such a personal health journey can significantly increase screening rates. Polizzi concluded her podcast segment with her trademark humor and resilience, telling fans, “The meatball is a fighter. I’ve got too much to do to let this stop me. We’re going to get through this, and I’m going to be fine.”
