Rebecca Gayheart is working through her grief one day at a time.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum posted a thank-you message following the death of her estranged husband, Eric Dane, who died on February 19 at the age of 53 after a long battle with ALS.

"I am so blown away by the outpouring of love and support from our community," she wrote in an Instagram Stories post on February 22. She also included a collection of framed photos of herself and Eric. "There aren't words to express our gratitude."

Rebecca, who has daughters Billie (15) and Georgia (14) with the Grey's Anatomy alum, added, "You are truly holding us up during this difficult time."

Despite filing for divorce from Eric in 2018, Rebecca, 54, was legally married to the Euphoria star until his death. In fact, she recently described their unique dynamic, pointing out that they experienced many highs and lows throughout their relationship.

"I care about him deeply," she wrote in a December essay for New York magazine's The Cut. "We had a wonderful marriage for 15 years, and we had two beautiful daughters. But also, a lot of s--t went wrong in our relationship, which wasn't good."

"We separated, but we never got a divorce," she said. "We were about to, but didn't. We haven't lived together in eight years; he has dated others, and I have dated someone."

Rebecca and Eric, although no longer romantically involved, maintain a profound bond characterized by familial love, with Rebecca expressing her commitment to support Eric, especially during his battle with ALS. She emphasizes the importance of setting an example for their children by demonstrating care and dignity in their relationship, stating, "We show up for people no matter what." Despite their complicated dynamics Eric having dated Janell Shirtcliff and Rebecca linked to Peter Morton they prioritize family values and mutual respect.
