"Back to the Future" actor Crispin Glover has been hit with a lawsuit by a former girlfriend who alleges he subjected her to abuse, fraud and wrongful eviction in a troubling legal filing.
According to a complaint filed in California and obtained by multiple outlets, the woman, identified as Jane Doe, accuses Glover, 61, of battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and violations of the state's civil rights law, among other claims.
Doe, a model from the United Kingdom, alleges she first connected with the actor via social media in 2015. Over time, she claims he persuaded her to move to Los Angeles with promises of career opportunities in the entertainment industry and a job as his assistant.
The lawsuit describes what it calls a "disturbing series of incidents," alleging Doe was "held captive" and used "for sex and free labor ... under false pretenses." She claims that after relocating to Los Angeles in 2024, she became financially dependent on Glover and was expected to serve as a live-in partner while he monitored her movements.
In early March 2024, Doe alleges she left the home to visit a mosque and returned to find herself locked out. The complaint claims she was evicted without warning, leaving her without housing.
She further alleges that when she attempted to reenter the residence to retrieve personal belongings and her pet cats, Glover assaulted her, grabbing her by the neck and placing her in a headlock, resulting in visible injuries.
The filing also accuses the actor of making a false police report and seeking a restraining order against her, actions she claims harmed her reputation after news of the order circulated publicly.
A representative for Glover has denied the allegations, calling them "baseless." In a statement, the rep asserted that on March 2, 2024, the actor was "the victim of an unprovoked felony assault" by Doe at his Los Angeles home and that she was arrested after police responded.
Glover "intends to vigorously defend himself," the statement added, expressing confidence that the claims will be disproven in court.
