Paul Anthony Kelly is living a new kind of love story.
After all, the Love Story actor and his wife, Syd Widziszewski-Kelly, just welcomed their first child together.
So it's not just the fame from his role as John F. Kennedy Jr. that keeps him awake at night. Being tired, he told Kelly Clarkson on the February 23 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, "That's, like, an understatement, for sure."
Naturally, his newborn has a connection to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, played by Sarah Pidgeon in the FX series.
In November, after filming, he admitted, "My wife and I need to go back home and start nesting," he told Interview. "The baby arrives in January. Originally, the baby was expected to arrive on January 7, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's birthday.
For the Canadian model, who married Syd in May 2023, all of these major life milestones occurred simultaneously.
After auditioning for the part, "I felt pretty good about it, but casting said they were reading other gentlemen for it," he explained. "I said, 'OK, that's fine. Whatever. A few months went by, and near the end of April, I received an email from my agents. Casting wants to see me again for another tape. Twenty minutes later, I received another email, and they’re like, ‘We’re just going to go straight to the producer callback.’”
"We're in Portland," he explains. "My wife and I now call that our home base. So I do the Zoom, and just as we are about to go out to dinner for our second wedding anniversary, she informs me that we are pregnant. "May 1 was a big day."
Then came the career-defining call.
"The next day, I received a phone call from my agent. They want to see me for a chemistry read with Sarah, who has already been cast as Carolyn, the following week," he said. "The condition was that I had to have my green card before then. The phone call arrived on Friday. Saturday I received my green card. "I booked my ticket on Sunday."
