Michael B. Jordan delivered one of the most emotional moments of the night at the 2026 Actor Awards, using his acceptance speech to honor the woman he says made his career possible, his mother, Donna Jordan.

The 39-year-old star won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his dual performance in Sinners during the March 1 ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Hosted by Kristen Bell, the evening celebrated standout achievements in film and television, but Jordan's heartfelt tribute quickly stood out.

During his speech, Jordan became visibly emotional as he thanked his mother for the sacrifices she made during his early acting days.

"Mom, thank you for driving me back and forth to New York," he said, recalling the difficult years. "When we didn't have enough money to go through the Holland Tunnel, when we were looking for gas money, parking spaces, when I went up there for my auditions."

Jordan also took time to recognize his longtime collaborator Ryan Coogler, crediting the filmmaker for helping shape his career.

"I want to thank Ryan Coogler for giving me the opportunity to show what I can do," he said, praising the director for creating a safe and fearless creative space.

The actor went on to thank his Sinners castmates, including Wunmi Mosaku, Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo and Miles Caton, noting that their shared vulnerability elevated the film.

"You guys lent us your talents, and you lent us your time and your vulnerability," he said. "So, thank you for allowing me to do my best work."

Despite the major win, Jordan maintained a humble tone, admitting the victory caught him off guard.

"I wasn't expecting this at all," he told the audience, before acknowledging fellow nominees Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke and Jesse Plemons. "I'm so honored and privileged to be nominated in categories with people and actors and humans that I love."

The night proved especially strong for Sinners, which also took home the ensemble prize, further boosting its momentum ahead of the Oscars. For Jordan, however, the biggest moment remained personal, a full-circle tribute to the mother who helped make his Hollywood journey possible.
