The Knicks weren't the only ones making history at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night. In the chaos following New York's jaw-dropping comeback win over the San Antonio Spurs, Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner shared a warm embrace courtside, and the internet promptly lost its mind.
A clip captured by Sportsish on TikTok shows Jenner, 28, spinning around to find Swift, 36, right behind her. The two locked eyes, broke into wide grins, and went straight in for a hug. According to professional lip reader Nicola Hickling, Jenner told Swift "Good to see you" before adding, "Hey, that was crazy. That was crazy." Swift nodded along and pressed her hand to her chest in total disbelief.
Fans who watched the video reacted as though they had witnessed a second miracle of the evening. "This might be more shocking than the Knicks win," one person wrote on TikTok. Another added, "You won't understand how big this is unless you're into pop culture." A third declared it "a historical moment in my lifetime."
The reason for all the shock is simple: Kylie's older sister, Kim Kardashian, has been locked in a decade-plus feud with Swift. The drama ignited at the 2009 MTV VMAs, exploded in 2016 over Kanye West's song "Famous," and never fully extinguished, even after leaked recordings, a year-long public exile for Swift, and multiple musical callouts. Swift described the fallout from that era as a genuine "career death."
Jenner was at the game with her boyfriend, Knicks superfan Timothée Chalamet. Swift sat alongside Alana and Este Haim, as well as actress Mariska Hargitay. Other famous faces filling out the celebrity section included Spike Lee, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan, and Larry David.
The Knicks' 107-106 victory, sealed by OG Anunoby's tip-in with 1.2 seconds left, was already the stuff of legend. But for a significant slice of the internet, the image of Swift and Jenner hugging it out in the aftermath gave the night a whole second act.
