Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has opened up about a recent health scare that left him fearing a possible cancer diagnosis.

The 54-year-old actor and former WWE star told Esquire that earlier this year he discovered a painful lump on one of his testicles while showering. Concerned, he went to his doctor, who suggested it was likely epididymitis but advised him to get an ultrasound immediately to rule out cancer.

Johnson admitted he kept the situation private, not even telling his wife Lauren Hashian until he had more clarity. "I didn't want to worry her before I knew if it was anything to even worry about," he explained.

The timing made the ordeal even more stressful. Before undergoing the ultrasound, Johnson had to attend a promotional event for the latest Jumanji film alongside Kevin Hart and Jack Black. "So, I had to live with that for those 24 hours, not knowing, and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches," he recalled.

Fortunately, the test results confirmed the lump was not cancer but epididymitis. "By the way: I'm fine," Johnson reassured fans. "But I didn't know that then, and the thing was really painful."

Reflecting on the experience, Johnson said it reinforced his focus on peace and personal growth. "I've reached this point in my life where I feel like I've worked hard to just be at peace," he shared. He described how confidence evolves over time: "As dudes, as young men, teenagers, twenties, we're trying to find ourselves. Then, in the thirties, that teenage bravado and confidence begins to wane. You hit your forties, and you're trying to figure out who you are. By the time I hit my fifties, I was working hard just to find what peace meant."

Johnson added that his approach to life has become less about appearances and more about quiet effort.
