Anne Hathaway has revealed that she and husband Adam Shulman are expecting their third child, a surprise that left the actress "so shocked."

The Odyssey star, 43, opened up about her pregnancy during a July 14 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. "I mean, we knew what we were doing, but we were so shocked it worked," she laughed, adding, "We were so shocked it went this way, so we're calling this one our buzzer-beater."

Hathaway, who shares sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, with Shulman, announced the news on June 19 with a simple Instagram video. Dressed in a flowing white dress, she cradled her baby bump before smiling and running off camera. "x Baby, I'm yours x," she captioned the clip.

On Late Night, Hathaway asked Meyers who is a father of three for advice. He joked, "Weirdly, it goes on, like, autopilot. Once there's three, there's not much you can do except watch."

The Oscar winner has spoken often about her gratitude for motherhood. In April, she told People, "I just feel very lucky. I know that not everybody who wants to be a parent gets to be. I'm just blown away by how fortunate I am. It went really well for me twice, and that's really lucky."

Sources say Hathaway has been balancing her family life with a busy career, including upcoming releases The Odyssey and Verity. One insider noted she wanted to reveal her pregnancy "on her own terms," keeping the spotlight on her projects during press tours.

Hathaway has also been candid about her journey to motherhood. In a 2024 Vanity Fair cover story, she shared that she experienced a miscarriage nearly a decade earlier.

Now, with baby number three on the way, Hathaway is embracing the unexpected. As she put it, this pregnancy is her "buzzer-beater.''
