Jon Bon Jovi cut short his Madison Square Garden concert on July 23, telling fans he needed to "cool it for a night" after battling a sinus infection.
The 64-year-old rocker was midway through the eighth show of his sold-out Forever Tour residency when he stopped after 90 minutes. Joined earlier by Train frontman Pat Monahan for "Livin' On a Prayer," Bon Jovi addressed the crowd before walking off stage.
"Don't throw away your ticket stubs, I'm going to figure something out, okay? Just hang onto it, I'll figure out how to reschedule," he said, adding, "I feel great, I'll see you again soon."
A spokesperson confirmed the early ending was due to a sinus infection, noting Bon Jovi has repeatedly expressed joy at returning to live shows after years away. The residency marks his first time back on stage since undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2022.
"Jon Bon Jovi spoke from stage and told fans he has been battling a sinus infection which led to the show's early ending. As part of the Bon Jovi residency at Madison Square Garden, Jon has said numerous times that it has been a joy to return to live shows for the band. Updated information will be available shortly." the rep told PEOPLE
The Grammy winner previously admitted he wasn't sure if he'd ever tour again after doctors discovered one of his cords was atrophying. "I'm fully recovered," he told People in June, explaining the surgery took longer than expected but was successful. "We never lost faith."
Formed in New Jersey in 1983, Bon Jovi rose to fame with glam-rock anthems like "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' On a Prayer," later scoring another smash with 2000's "It's My Life."
