Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is recovering after undergoing major surgery for cancer treatment.
The Jersey Shore alum, who announced her stage 1 cervical cancer diagnosis in February, shared a short video on TikTok Friday revealing that she just underwent a hysterectomy.
She then shared a video on Saturday morning detailing the procedure and her recovery.
“I’m gonna be honest with you: not great,” Snooki said from her hospital bed. “I’m not good with pain, and I’m really trying to be tough, but it’s not great.”
Snooki explained everything that the surgeon removed during the procedure. “We did that C-section cut, and he obviously ended up taking out the uterus, my cervix, and then some parts of my vagina just to make sure we get everything,” she said. “So that was crazy. The fallopian tubes, all of it — we kept my ovaries so I don’t go into pre-menopause, which is nice.”
The reality star paused for a moment as she teared up. “Sorry, it’s just been a lot,” she said before sharing good news about her surgeon helping repair her abdominal muscles during the procedure. “When you have kids, sometimes your abs, they disconnect…so he ended up putting them back together, which is nice, because they were totally separated from my three kids.”
Snooki said that she’s trying to maintain a positive outlook despite the pain. “Dealing with all that pain, it’s not great, but I’m doing my best, and I’m trying to stay optimistic,” she said. “I hope I sleep tonight. I have a heating pad, so that’s helping.”
She also said that she was able to walk “a little bit” but that cramping became intense as soon as she got back in bed. “The first couple days is hell, and then it’s gonna get better,” she said. “So I’m trying to stay in good spirits. And the nurses and doctors and everybody were so great.”
