Perez Hilton's family has revealed that his three children were inside his Miami home just minutes before his disturbing TikTok livestream on August 4, when the celebrity blogger appeared to harm himself.
In a statement posted on Hilton's website, relatives explained: "Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez's children, niece, and sister were inside the home. When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma."
Hilton was hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act after authorities responded to multiple calls about the livestream. The law allows individuals to be held involuntarily if they pose a danger to themselves or others. Deputies confirmed Hilton was alone inside the property when they arrived.
The blogger is a single father to Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8. His family stressed that their priority now is helping the children heal and regain a sense of security. They also urged media and paparazzi to respect the family's privacy, asking them to stay away from the home.
TikTok quickly banned Hilton's account and alerted law enforcement after the livestream. His family later confirmed he was able to communicate, which gave them hope. They promised to continue sharing updates through his website when possible.
Hilton has faced health challenges in recent months, including hospitalizations for an ulcer, sepsis, and deep vein thrombosis. He had also spoken publicly about finding faith.
His family acknowledged the gravity of the current situation, writing: "The events of the past several days have been nearly unbearable for our family. Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced."
