Kim Kardashian and Kanye West put their differences aside for a special family occasion as they both turned out to support their daughter North West during her first headline concert in Chicago.
The former couple attended North's performance at The Vic Theatre on September 5, marking a rare public appearance in the same place since their divorce. Although they arrived separately, both made it clear that their daughter's milestone was more important than their past differences.
Kim was seen taking her place in the VIP section, wearing a sleek outfit and a slicked back ponytail as she watched the teenage performer take the stage. Kanye arrived later in a brown bomber jacket and sunglasses and was seen recording North during her performance.
The concert represents an important moment in North's growing music career. At just 13, she released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, in May and has increasingly demonstrated that her ambitions extend beyond simply being the daughter of two globally recognised entertainers.
Speaking to Dazed in August, North described performing her music as "fun, relieving and exciting." She also rejected the idea that she should wait until she is older before beginning her career, explaining that music is something she genuinely enjoys and wants to pursue.
Her parents' presence added another layer of significance to the evening. Kim and Kanye divorced in 2022 after nearly eight years of marriage and share four children, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
While their relationship has experienced considerable tension over the years, Kim has repeatedly spoken about the importance of ensuring their children maintain meaningful relationships with both parents.
The reality television star previously acknowledged that leaving a long term relationship becomes more complicated when children are involved. She has also described her own father as an important influence in her life and said she wants her children to have similarly positive memories with their parents.
Co parenting has not always been easy for the former couple, but North's concert offered a reminder that family milestones can create moments of unity even after a relationship ends.
For North, however, the biggest achievement was not having two famous parents in the audience. It was stepping onto the stage and commanding attention on her own terms.
With her first headline concert now behind her, the young performer appears determined to build an identity that belongs entirely to her.
