Savannah Guthrie has once again used her platform to make an emotional appeal for information about her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, more than seven months after her abduction.
The Today anchor spoke about her mother during Tuesday's, Sept. 15, broadcast after actress Allison Janney addressed the Guthrie family's ordeal while speaking to reporters backstage at the 2026 Emmy Awards.
Janney, who won her eighth Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The Diplomat, was asked about the compassion she has shown Savannah since Nancy was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home on Feb. 1.
"I honestly can say I think about her every day and think about the loss and what Savannah and her family are going through," Janney said. "I don't think I'm alone too. I think all of America was thinking about her."
Willie Geist, who was guest co-hosting Today with Guthrie, described Janney's remarks as a "beautiful expression of sympathy," noting that the actress had just experienced a major career moment but still took time to acknowledge the family's pain.
Guthrie, 54, said Janney's words meant a lot to her.
"Yeah, I was so touched to see her do that," Guthrie said. "It was her moment of her triumph and for her to sit and just take a moment and think about our family."
She then used the moment to renew her family's plea for help in locating Nancy.

"I never let a moment pass, if I get one, to talk about my mom and how much we miss her and love her," Guthrie said. She explained that her siblings and extended family remain in deep pain and that they need help.
"So thank you, Allison Janney, for remembering us and for giving an opportunity for me to renew that call," she added.
Guthrie's message ended with a heartbreaking request.
"We just want our mom home, give her a proper goodbye," she said. "That's all."
