Dakota Johnson has offered a cheeky take on her long-running connection to musicians, joking that there is plenty she has learned not to like about the men in the music industry.
The 36-year-old actress opened up about her dating history during her October 2026 cover interview with Vogue, where she was asked whether she would consider directing another music video after helming Coldplay's "Cry Cry Cry" in 2020.
Johnson acknowledged that she has become acquainted with quite a few musicians over the years.
"They like me. I don't know what to say," she said before adding, "And I like them." When the interviewer asked, "What's not to like?" Johnson did not hesitate. "A lot! A lot," she replied, laughing. "Tricky motherf***ers."
Her remark comes shortly after her reported split from singer Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury. The pair were first linked in late 2025 after being spotted together in Los Angeles, and by April, a source described their relationship as "definitely more than a fling, or just a flirt."
The relationship reportedly ended "a while ago," with Johnson having previously been cautious about moving too quickly after her lengthy romance with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
Johnson and Martin were first linked in 2017 and maintained an on-and-off relationship for several years before ultimately parting ways. During their time together, Johnson even appeared in and directed Coldplay's "Cry Cry Cry" music video.
More recently, Johnson has been linked to Machine Gun Kelly. The two have reportedly been spending time together privately for months, with their recent appearances fueling speculation about the nature of their relationship.
Johnson, however, remains unwilling to put a label on her current love life. Asked directly about her relationship status, she simply said, "I don't want to say anything about that."
Her connection to musicians stretches back even further. Before Martin, Johnson dated Matthew Hitt, the frontman of rock band Drowners.
While discussing her personal life, Johnson also opened up about another future she hopes to experience: motherhood. The actress said she "really" wants children and hopes she will be lucky enough to become a mother.
Johnson admitted that watching friends and people around her start families has made those feelings even stronger, although she acknowledged that life had not unfolded exactly as she once expected.
"It's okay. I'm hopeful for that," she said.
