Collin Gosselin has spoken about the anger he still feels toward his mother, Kate Gosselin, during an emotionally charged challenge on Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.

In Thursday's October 29 episode, the 22-year-old was asked to draw on painful experiences from his childhood as he took part in a combat exercise known as the Red Man challenge. Contestants were required to strike an instructor wearing a protective suit before stopping on command.

Before the challenge, directing staff member Q asked Collin whether his troubled relationship with his mother still affected him.

"I'm here because my mother's taken a lot of things away from me. But this course is something she can't take away," Collin said. He went on to explain his feelings in a confessional, saying, "She took away my childhood, she took away my freedom — and I have a lot of anger."

Q encouraged him to use those emotions during the exercise, telling him, "This is your chance for revenge. Use that anger. Use that rage."

When Collin was told to imagine the person in front of him as his mother, he ran toward the instructor screaming and repeatedly struck the protective suit. Staff members urged him to keep going before eventually calling him to stop.

The appearance comes as Collin promotes his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, in which he makes serious allegations about his upbringing. He has claimed that Kate physically and emotionally abused him, confined him in a basement room monitored by cameras and sent him to a behavioural facility when he was 11.

A former family nanny, Ashley, has also come forward with allegations about how Kate treated Collin. She claimed Kate treated him differently from the other children and recalled seeing her grab and pull him by the ear. According to the nanny, Collin's fourth-grade teacher also reported bruising to Children and Youth Services, prompting an investigation.

Kate has denied her son's claims. In previous statements, she said Collin's behaviour led to his placement in a psychiatric facility because of concerns about the safety of the family. She has also disputed his account that she failed to visit him while he was receiving treatment.

In a 2023 statement, Kate said decisions made about Collin were based on recommendations from his paediatric psychiatrist and specialists and were intended to protect the family, their friends and their pets.
