Kim Novak has shared strong reservations about Sydney Sweeney portraying her in the upcoming biopic Scandalous!, calling the casting choice inappropriate. In an interview with The Times published on March 27, the 93 year old screen legend said she would not have supported Sweeney taking on the role and described the decision as misguided.

The film is set to explore Novak's relationship with Sammy Davis Jr. during the 1950s, with David Jonsson cast as Davis. Novak expressed concern that the project may focus too heavily on the romantic and physical aspects of their connection, rather than reflecting the deeper bond they shared. She emphasized that their relationship was rooted in common experiences and mutual understanding rather than being defined by attraction alone.

Novak also criticized Sweeney's image, suggesting that her public persona does not align with how she sees herself or the story she lived. She argued that the portrayal risks distorting the nature of her past and presenting a version that prioritizes appearance over authenticity. According to Novak, the film could lean toward sensationalism instead of accurately representing the emotional reality of her experiences.
