Stephen Oyoung has joined the star-studded cast of “Mission: Impossible 8,” also known as “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.” Oyoung, known for his roles in TV dramas such as “NCIS” and “Hawaii Five-0,” and his work as a fight choreographer on films like “47 Ronin” and “The Equalizer,” is set to appear in an undisclosed role.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Oyoung expressed his excitement: “Mission accepted! Thank you to Tom Cruise and Chris McQuarrie for having me along for the ride. An absolute dream come true and an incredible master class in filmmaking every day! Can’t wait for you all to see it!”
Production of “Mission: Impossible 8” has faced significant delays. Initially slated for a 2024 release, the film’s premiere was pushed to May 23, 2025, due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes and a technical malfunction involving a £23 million submarine gimbal . This delay follows previous setbacks related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which similarly affected its predecessor, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.”
Tom Cruise has been actively involved in filming scenes across the UK, transforming into his iconic character Ethan Hunt in locations like the Natural History Museum and Westminster Bridge . Despite the setbacks, the production team remains committed to delivering high-octane action sequences, including an ambitious underwater scene teased by director Christopher McQuarrie .
Alongside Oyoung, the film will feature returning stars Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Hayley Atwell. Pegg, who plays tech expert Benji Dunn, and Rhames, who portrays the seasoned Luther Stickell, have been integral parts of the franchise for years. Atwell, who debuted as the character Grace in ”Dead Reckoning Part One,” brings fresh energy to the series.
Pom Klementieff, who plays the formidable assassin Paris, and Esai Morales, reprising his role as the antagonist Gabriel, are also set to return. Vanessa Kirby will continue her role as the enigmatic Alanna Mitsopolis, also known as the White Widow, adding another layer of intrigue to the plot.
As anticipation builds for the film’s release, fans are eager to see how the new and returning cast members will contribute to the next chapter in the Mission: Impossible saga. The blend of familiar faces and new talents like Stephen Oyoung promises to deliver an unforgettable action-packed experience.
