In a groundbreaking announcement, Eugene and Dan Levy have been confirmed as the hosts for the 76th Emmy Awards, scheduled to air on ABC on September 15, 2024. This marks a significant milestone as they become the first father-son team to host the prestigious awards show.

The Levys, best known for their work on the critically acclaimed series "Schitt's Creek," are no strangers to Emmy success. In 2020, they made history as the first father-son duo to win Emmys in the same year. Their show's final season set a comedy series record with nine wins at the pandemic-impacted 2020 Emmy Awards.

Reflecting on their new role, the Levys stated, "For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough." Their humor and rapport are expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the ceremony.

Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, praised the duo's comedic prowess, saying, "Eugene's and Dan's comedic intuition and uncanny ability to capture the hearts of viewers will make for a memorable Emmys telecast."

The decision to select the Levys comes after a period of uncertainty regarding the host selection. Jimmy Kimmel, ABC's usual go-to host, declined the opportunity this year. The choice of the Levys, who are not currently associated with any Disney properties, demonstrates a willingness to look beyond network affiliations for the right hosting talent.

Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego expressed enthusiasm for the pairing, noting, "Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they are super-charged."

The 76th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, with streaming available on Hulu the following day. The production team, led by Jesse Collins Entertainment, includes veterans from previous Emmy telecasts, ensuring a smooth and professional production.
