In a twist that blends reality with supernatural fiction, Taylor Lautner is set to return to the world of werewolves – this time as their hunter. Amazon MGM Studios has greenlit development of "Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter," a genre-bending series that promises to transform the actor's most famous role into his greatest adversary.

"The truth is wilder than fiction," reveals the official series description from Amazon MGM Studios. The show's premise explains Lautner's mysterious disappearance from the spotlight after the Twilight saga, suggesting he wasn't just taking a mental health break – he was preparing for a supernatural calling.

Daisy Gardner, known for her work on critically acclaimed shows like "30 Rock" and "Silicon Valley," will serve as creator and showrunner. The creative team also includes the talented duo Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, who will direct and executive produce the series.

"Between saving the world, reviving his career, and falling in love, he faces the ultimate question – what happens when your biggest role becomes your greatest enemy?" teases the studio's logline, highlighting the show's meta approach to Lautner's career trajectory.

The actor's history with werewolf roles runs deep. As Jacob Black in the Twilight franchise, Lautner portrayed a shapeshifter who could transform into a wolf, helping the five films collectively gross over $3 billion globally. This new series cleverly subverts that legacy, casting Lautner as a member of a secret society dedicated to hunting the very creatures that made him famous.

The project marks a significant collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Tornante, the independent studio behind successful shows like "BoJack Horseman" and "Undone." Adam Londy of Tornante and Tarik Kanafani will join the executive production team, bringing their expertise in crafting compelling television narratives.

"Taylor must wrestle with the ultimate irony: fighting the very creatures that made him famous," the series description continues, suggesting a show that will balance action and self-aware humor while exploring themes of identity and destiny.

For Lautner, whose post-Twilight credits include roles in "Scream Queens" and "Cuckoo," this series represents both a return to his roots and a bold new direction. By playing himself in this meta-narrative, he'll navigate the complexities of being a Hollywood actor by day and supernatural warrior by night.
As development continues, "Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter" promises to deliver a unique blend of action, humor, and supernatural thrills when it eventually hits Amazon's streaming platform.
