Anne Hathaway turned a slip into a viral sensation while filming The Devil Wears Prada 2 in New York City. The Oscar-winning actress, reprising her role as Andy Sachs, stumbled down the steps of a brownstone after the heel of her black Ulla Johnson studded shoe snapped during a scene.

Carrying a bagel and briefcase as cameras rolled, Hathaway lost her balance and landed on the stoop. Crew members rushed to help, but the 42-year-old quickly got back on her feet, smiling and telling onlookers, "It's fine!" She even raised her arms in the air as if she had completed a gymnast's routine. Later, she was spotted laughing with crew members and showing off her broken heel.

Rather than brushing off the incident, Hathaway leaned into the moment with a bit of nostalgia. On August 28, she posted a fan edit on Instagram that paired her fall with the famous unscripted scene from The Princess Diaries where her character, Mia Thermopolis, slips on the school bleachers. She captioned it, "Twenty years later, still falling for you..."

Filming for the highly anticipated sequel began in late June, nearly 20 years after the original film became a cultural touchstone for fashion and media enthusiasts. Returning cast members include Meryl Streep as the formidable Miranda Priestly, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling.

According to Variety, the story follows Priestly "as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and as she faces off against Blunt's character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs."

The sequel also brings in fresh faces such as Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Simone Ashley, Pauline Chalamet, Caleb Hearon, and Broadway's Helen J. Shen.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026.
