After being locked down for weeks, many residents in Georgia are thumbing their noses at the deadly coronavirus and seeking sanctuary in the sun, sand and waves of the southern state's beaches.

Under a cloudless blue sky with balmy temperatures and soft breezes rolling off the water, Tybee Island proved a powerful weekend lure Saturday for Georgians desperate for any return to normalcy -- and an escape from self-imposed isolation.

"How long are we supposed to imprison ourselves?" a bikini-clad Mackenzie Scharf, 30, said to AFP as her five-year-old son flew a Spider Man kite.

"This is much safer than going grocery shopping."

Fred Rogers forged close bonds with "Mister Rogers" co-star Francois Clemmons, but now Clemmons is opening up about how the late icon encouraged him to not reveal that he was gay.

In his new memoir titled "Officer Clemmons," the 75-year-old singer and actor describes Rogers as his mentor. Officer Clemmons was a familiar face to viewers of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" from 1968 to 1993, according to IMDB.

In the book, Clemmons recalls being called into Rogers' studio for a chat.

“Franc, you have talents and gifts that set you apart and above the crowd,” Clemmons recalls Rogers telling him, according to People. “Someone has informed us that you were seen at the local gay bar downtown. Now, I want you to know, Franc, that if you’re gay, it doesn’t matter to me at all. Whatever you say and do is fine with me, but if you’re going to be on the show as an important member of the Neighborhood, you can’t be out as gay.”

Josh Brolin issued an apology over the weekend after recently visiting his father, James Brolin, and stepmother, Barbra Streisand, amid California's stay-at-home order due to COVID-19.

The 52-year-old actor received backlash from fans after he and his wife, Kathryn Boyd, brought their 1-year-old daughter to Josh's parents' home last week, People magazine reported.

The celebrity couple announced Sunday that they will be selling "Quarantine Wine" in aid of those suffering because of the pandemic.
The announcement was made on Kutcher's verified social media accounts.
 
"Mila and I are Launching Quarantine wine!," he wrote in the caption on his Instagram account. "100% of profits go to covid-19 relief efforts."
The pair appear in a video where they shared what they are doing.

Brian Dennehy, a versatile character actor whose career spanned five decades, has died at the age of 81, his talent agency confirmed.

Dennehy, a two-time Tony Award winner who co-starred in a wide range of films, often in tough-guy roles, died of natural causes in Connecticut on Wednesday night, ICM Partners announced in a statement.In a tweet, his daughter described him as "larger than life" and "generous to a fault."
 
Dennehy co-starred in a long list of popular movies, including "First Blood" (as the local sheriff who clashes with Sylvester Stallone's Rambo), the western "Silverado," and the science-fiction classic "Cocoon." He played Chris Farley's dad in the comedy "Tommy Boy," and portrayed basketball coach Bobby Knight in a made-for-TV movie.
