Maya Henry, the ex-fiancée of late singer Liam Payne, has spoken out for the first time since his passing, making serious allegations about their tumultuous relationship. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Maya claimed that Liam, who passed away at 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, shared intimate images of her without her consent.
"What hurts the most is that even after his death, I'm left with the aftermath of his actions that continue to unfold," she revealed. She stated that during their engagement, Liam had obtained private photos of her and shared them without her knowledge.
Following Liam's death, Maya reportedly discovered additional instances of non-consensual image sharing. A cease-and-desist letter, reviewed by Rolling Stone, detailed an incident where a stranger informed Maya that Liam had asked if they wanted to see nude images of her. The letter further alleged that Liam had sent unsolicited explicit content of himself to Maya and her family.
Maya also opened up about Liam's struggles with addiction, which she said played a major role in their relationship's downfall. "On drugs, he became someone unrecognisable—so different from his sober self. I kept hoping each incident would be a wake-up call for him to get help, but it never was. I tried to be there for him. I loved him so much that I convinced myself I could fix things," she shared.
According to an insider, Maya was unaware of the full extent of Liam's drug use until the end of their relationship. Sources alleged that Liam used "cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, and pharmaceutical pills" and eventually began "smoking heroin." Maya admitted she put herself in "unsafe and harmful situations" in an attempt to support him.
Maya and Liam dated on and off from 2018 to 2022, calling off their engagement a year before his passing. Just days before his death, Maya's lawyers issued a cease-and-desist letter, accusing him of persistently contacting her and her family.
Following Liam's passing, Maya became the target of online harassment, with some trolls unfairly blaming her for his death. However, many fans came to her defense, insisting that "victims are allowed to tell their stories."
Maya, who has since returned to social media, continues to promote her debut novel, Looking Forward, a fictionalized account inspired by true events from her life.
