Mexico’s Ministry of Defense has confirmed the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the notorious leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The fugitive, widely known as "El Mencho," succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent confrontation between his loyalists and the Mexican army. According to an official statement, he passed away while being transported to Mexico City following the security operation aimed at his capture.

Four CJNG members were killed and another two seriously injured in the operation in the town of Tapalpa, in the central-western state of Jalisco. Three members of the military were also injured.

CJNG has spread from its original power base in Jalisco to have an almost nationwide presence across Mexico.

The billionaire behind the retail empire that once blanketed shopping malls with names such as Victoria’s Secret and Abercrombie & Fitch told members of Congress on Wednesday that he was “duped by a world-class con man” — close financial adviser Jeffrey Epstein. Les Wexner also denied knowing about the late sex offender’s crimes or participating in Epstein’s abuse of girls and young women.

“I was naive, foolish, and gullible to put any trust in Jeffrey Epstein. He was a con man. And while I was conned, I have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide,” the 88-year-old retired founder of L Brands said in a statement to the House Oversight and Reform Committee released before his interview.

A British couple who were on the trip of a lifetime have been jailed in Iran for ten years after being accused of spying. Lindsay and Craig Foreman were arrested by Iranian forces in January 2025 while travelling around the world on a motorcycle. The couple, from East Sussex, who are being held in Tehran’s Evin prison, have continued to deny allegations of espionage. Lindsay’s son, Joe Bennett, told the BBC the sentencing was "gutwrenching".

He West Virginia attorney general has filed a lawsuit against Apple, alleging the company allowed child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) to be stored and circulated on its iCloud platform for years.

According to the complaint, the tech giant placed a stronger emphasis on user privacy than on detecting and reporting illegal content involving children. State officials argue that because Apple maintains strict control over its devices, software and cloud systems, it should have been aware of how its storage services were being used.

Federal law requires technology companies operating in the United States to report detected child exploitation material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The lawsuit notes a stark contrast in reporting numbers, claiming that while Google submitted more than a million reports in 2023, Apple filed only a few hundred.

A former aide to USA Republican party, Texas representative, Tony Gonzales acknowledged in a text message that she had an affair with him months before she fatally set herself on fire.

Regina Santos-Aviles wrote in an April 28, 2025 message to a colleague: “I had [an] affair with our boss and I’m fine,” according to a screenshot of the exchange obtained by The Post. The message was first reported by the San Antonio Express-News, which later withdrew its endorsement of Gonzales in the March 3 GOP primary, saying the congressman “has questions to answer.”

Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that Alberta Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux has crossed the floor to join the Liberal Party, marking the third Conservative defection in recent months and moving the Liberals closer to a majority in the House of Commons.

In a post on X, Carney confirmed that Jeneroux, who represents Edmonton Riverbend, is now part of the Liberal caucus. With his addition, the Liberals hold 169 seats in Parliament, just three short of the 172 required to form a majority government. The shift significantly strengthens Carney’s position as he navigates a closely divided chamber.
