According to reports, Moronta was driving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) when the accident occurred in the Quinigua neighborhood near Santiago de los Caballeros on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Moronta's MLB career spanned six years, during which he played for several teams, including the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Los Angeles Angels. Over his career, Moronta made 177 appearances, compiling a record of 10 wins and 11 losses with a 3.05 ERA and 202 strikeouts in 171.1 innings pitched. His tenure in the major leagues was marked by his role as a right-handed relief pitcher, showcasing his talent and versatility on the mound.
Before his death, Moronta had joined the Bravos de León of the Mexican League in May 2024. However, he was released from the team in July. We join in the grief that overwhelms his family, friends, and former colleagues. Rest in peace." Moronta made his MLB debut in 2017 with the San Francisco Giants and later played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks.
