In a recent podcast episode, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce opened up about his reaction to Tom Brady’s Netflix roast. The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, which aired on Netflix, left many fans in stitches with its brutal jokes, Travis Kelce being one of them.
During his New Heights podcast presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, Travis discussed the roast. He admitted to watching the live broadcast in bits and pieces online, and the experience left him emotional. Travis said, “That was unbelievable. I had been in tears the whole day just watching the clips and everything.”
He commended everyone involved for their willingness to take the jokes in stride saying, "I commend everybody because nobody seemed to get, like, their feelings hurt. It looked like everybody was having fun with it. At the same time, man, that s**t had me rolling because of how at everybody's neck people were going."
The roast featured a joke about Travis Kelce’s relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift. Brady quipped, “Kansas City, you say your stadium is the loudest. It helps when all your fans are 14-year-old girls.” This playful jab referred to the influx of Swifties entering Chiefs Kingdom due to Travis’ connection with Taylor Swift. Travis has been with the Chiefs since 2013.
Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, also weighed in on the spectacle. Jason found the roast to be pure entertainment but admitted he didn’t fully understand why people participate in roasts. "I'm really happy they did it, but I just do not get the roasts. I don't understand why people do them. Maybe I take myself too seriously," Jason said.
"I would pick people that I would have no problem getting into a fist fight with, like family members," he joked. "Like, dad, roast me, but I'm gonna beat the f**k outta dad when the cameras turn off. The one person I wouldn't allow on the stage is Kylie. She has way too much. Every day I'm getting roasted by Kylie. I don't need her to go on stage and do that."
Travis, meanwhile, welcomed the idea of being playfully roasted by some of his favourite comedians such as Andrew Santino, Dave Chappelle, Nikki Glaser, Jeff Ross, and Kevin Hart, the host of Brady's event.
“Santino’s one of my favorite comedians of all time. I think he would f**ng deliver. Dave Chappelle is the all-time great. Kevin Hart, I would love him to go up there and just f**ng rip me in half. When he went up there I was like, ok, this is where it gets hot boys," Travis said.
"If you're open to it, just go online. You can get f**king roasted. Like, a lot of these jokes have already been said. Just look in the comments, that'll humble you." Travis joked to Jason.
