Ferrari plans to unveil its 2025 Formula 1 car at the headquarters in Maranello on February 19, 2025. It is going to be the follow-up after the sport made a history-opening season launch held in London’s O2 Arena for the 75-year anniversary of Formula 1.
Of course, this year will also be especially crucial for Ferrari as it presents an introduction to seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton into its workforce. Hamilton’s shift from Mercedes to Ferrari had become one of the most-discussed transfers in the recent history of F1. The main confidence in Team Principal Fred Vasseur’s judgment lays in Hamilton’s swift ability to adapt to a completely different environment: “He is not the rookie of the year, I am not worried at all about this.”
Before the official launch, Ferrari wants to give Hamilton opportunities to get acquainted with their machinery. Vasseur revealed that Hamilton will take part in test sessions with a two-year-old Ferrari, probably the SF-23 from 2023, thanks to the TPC regulations. The exact timing and location of these tests depend on the weather conditions at the beginning of 2025.
Following the unveiling of the car, Ferrari heads to Bahrain to conduct three days of pre-season testing from February 26 to 28 at the Bahrain International Circuit. Hamilton and his new teammate, Charles Leclerc, will share driving duties, with each getting one-and-a-half days to hone the car ahead of the season’s opener in Melbourne, Australia.
Hamilton’s integration into Ferrari comes after Carlos Sainz’s departure from the team. Sainz, who had been in Ferrari since 2021, admitted that such a decision to replace him with Hamilton was not called for, as he said he was “99% sure” of continuing with the team.
As Ferrari prepares for the 2025 season, the collaboration between Hamilton and Leclerc is anticipated to be a focal point. Vasseur dismissed concerns about potential friction between the two drivers, emphasizing that their competitive spirit is expected to enhance the team’s overall performance. He noted that both drivers respect each other and that internal competition has previously benefited the team.
The 2025 season Is going to be quite promising for Ferrari since the combination of Hamilton’s vast experience and Leclerc’s proven talent hope to propel the team again toward championship contention. Supporters and analysts alike are intrigued by how this new relationship will play out on the track.
