Sao Paulo have announced the signing of midfielder Oscar, who was at Shanghai Port in China. After a spell at Chelsea, the 33-year-old has remained in Asian football for eight years. The three-year deal was confirmed by president Julio Cesares.

Sao Paulo is part of Oscar's career. After all, the midfielder was born in Cotia and played a part in the 2008 Brazilian champions' season. His departure from the club, however, was tumultuous. He went to court in 2010, alleging coercion in the signing of a five-year contract, as well as delays.

The legal imbroglio dragged on until an agreement was reached in 2012, with the termination being carried out. The player had already moved to Internacional, who paid R$15 million. Colorado subsequently made around R$65 million from the sale of the player to Chelsea. For Internacional, Oscar won the Recopa Sudamericana in 2011, as well as the Gaucho Championships in 2011 and 2012.

For Chelsea, the Brazilian midfielder won the Premier League twice, the Europa League in 2012/13 and the English League Cup in 2014/15. Oscar decided to move to Chinese football in 2016, where he became a three-time Chinese Super League champion with Shanghai Port. The player also played for the Brazilian national team, winning the 2013 Confederations Cup, as well as playing in the World Cup the following year, scoring the only Brazil goal in the infamous 7-1 defeat by Germany in Mineirao.
