Vinicius Jr has committed his future to Real Madrid after signing a new six-year contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2032.
The Brazil international had entered the final year of his previous deal, sparking speculation about his future and attracting interest from Arsenal. However, Real Madrid confirmed on Thursday that the winger has agreed to remain with the Spanish giants for another six seasons.
Following the announcement, Vinicius celebrated the extension with a heartfelt Instagram message, writing, "Eight years at the Bernabeu are too short... Six more years, and then forever."
Real Madrid praised the 26-year-old's contribution since joining the club, describing him as one of the key figures during one of the most successful periods in the team's history.
Negotiations over a new contract had reportedly stalled in recent months, but Real Madrid presented an improved offer earlier this week. Vinicius is understood to have welcomed the revised terms, paving the way for an agreement after discussions that stretched over the past 18 months.
The Brazilian joined Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 and previously signed a contract extension in 2023. Since arriving in Spain, he has developed into one of the club's most influential players and has repeatedly expressed that playing for Real Madrid was a lifelong dream.
Vinicius returned to the club on Monday for his first preseason training session after representing Brazil at the World Cup. He also completed routine medical assessments before beginning preparations for the new campaign.
His record at Real Madrid reflects his importance to the team. He has scored 128 goals in 375 appearances across all competitions while also contributing 13 goals in 54 matches for Brazil.
During his time in Madrid, Vinicius has helped the club win two UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga championships and one Copa del Rey trophy.
Arsenal had been monitoring the situation closely and were prepared to intensify their pursuit if the forward failed to reach an agreement with Madrid. With his future now secured, the Premier League champions are expected to explore other options as they continue searching for a left-sided attacker.
The contract extension comes on the same day Real Madrid confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal worth up to £120 million. He becomes the club's sixth signing of the summer under new head coach Jose Mourinho, while Madrid also continue to monitor Manchester City midfielder Rodri despite growing competition from rivals Barcelona.
