Ruben Amorim expressed frustration despite Manchester United's spirited 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield, criticizing his team for their inconsistent performances. United delivered an improved showing, with Lisandro Martinez opening the scoring before Liverpool's Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah turned the game around. Amad Diallo rescued a point for United with a late equalizer in the 80th minute.

While the result showed progress compared to recent weeks, Amorim admitted he was "mad and upset" because the fighting spirit his players demonstrated against league leaders Liverpool has been missing in other games. He urged his team to use this performance as a springboard for greater consistency.

"I get more upset because of the other games," Amorim said. "It's even harder to understand why we haven't shown this fight before. This isn't about the system or technique—it's something deeper. I'm pleased with the performance today, but I'm upset because we've had good games, like against Manchester City, but we always drop again. We need to be consistent."

The Portuguese manager emphasized the need for the team to maintain the same level of commitment and intensity in every match. "Today, we were a team, and everyone will praise us for that. But I'm the only one allowed to be upset because we should perform like this every week," he added.

United captain Bruno Fernandes echoed Amorim's sentiments, lamenting the team's inability to replicate such performances regularly. "We've been criticized, and rightly so, because our position in the table says it all," Fernandes said. "We've lost too many points. Even today, we can't be satisfied with a draw because we need the points more than Liverpool."

Fernandes praised the effort against Liverpool but questioned why the same level of intensity isn't consistent. "It's a good result and a fair one. Both teams played well and showed intensity," he said. "But I'm upset because we can show this kind of football against Liverpool at Anfield, the best team in the league, yet we don't do it every week."

Amorim and Fernandes made it clear that while the result against Liverpool is encouraging, United must now prove they can sustain this level of performance. With a demanding schedule ahead, the rallying call is clear: consistency is key if they hope to climb the table and salvage their season.
