Manchester City captain Kyle Walker is set to embark on a new chapter in his career, agreeing to a loan move to Italian giants AC Milan for the remainder of the season. The deal includes an option for the Italian club to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

Walker, a key figure in City's unprecedented success under Pep Guardiola, has made 316 appearances for the club since his £50 million arrival from Tottenham in 2017. However, the 34-year-old expressed a desire to explore opportunities abroad earlier this month, with Italy his preferred destination over Saudi Arabia, where he had also been linked.

The experienced right-back, who has 93 caps for England and was named City's joint-captain this season, will now travel to Italy to undergo a medical. This move comes after a somewhat disappointing season for Walker at the Etihad.

AC Milan have been active in the transfer market, having also been linked with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. However, due to Italian registration rules, they can only sign one player from the UK during the current window.

Walker's departure follows a busy January transfer window for City. The club has already invested heavily, acquiring Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for an initial fee of £59 million, as well as Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras and Uzbek international Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens.

This loan move to AC Milan provides Walker an opportunity to regain his form after a disappointing start of the 2025 season where the club failed to win in 8 consecutive times for the first time under Pep Guardiola. Walker has been presented with an opportunity to regain his top form and potentially reignite his career in a new and challenging environment. Manchester city will be playing Chelsea in the premier league before facing Club Brugge in the Champions league.
