Portugal's journey to the Nations League semi-finals was nothing short of dramatic. A night filled with twists, heartbreaks, and ultimate triumph saw the Portuguese national team secure a 5-2 victory over Denmark (agg 5-3), ensuring their place in the final four.

The drama started early, just five minutes into the match when Cristiano Ronaldo was fouled inside the box. With a chance to add another goal to his already illustrious career, the 40-year-old forward stepped up to take the penalty. However, Kasper Schmeichel had other ideas. The Danish goalkeeper, completely unfazed by Ronaldo's signature stuttering run-up, dived to his left and saved the spot-kick—Ronaldo's 32nd career penalty miss.

Despite the early setback, Portugal pressed forward. João Cancelo opened the scoring, leveling the tie at 1-1 on aggregate. Denmark, however, responded quickly, with Christian Eriksen delivering a stunning strike to restore their lead. But Portugal remained relentless. Goals from Rafael Leão and Bernardo Silva gave them a commanding advantage before Francisco Trincão's late goal sealed the result in extra time.

Elsewhere in the competition, Germany and Italy battled it out in a thrilling encounter. Germany took a dominant 3-0 lead by halftime, with Joshua Kimmich's quick-thinking corner reminiscent of Trent Alexander-Arnold's famous assist against Barcelona in 2019. However, Italy mounted a stunning comeback in the second half, with Moise Kean scoring twice. A controversial VAR decision denied Italy a crucial penalty, and despite a late successful spot-kick, Germany held on to progress.

With Portugal's victory, they booked their place in June's semi-finals in Germany, joining France, Spain, and Germany in the final four.
