Manchester City are facing a demanding run of fixtures after a series of scheduling changes that have left the club frustrated during a crucial stage of the season.

Pep Guardiola's side will host Crystal Palace on May 13 before travelling to face AFC Bournemouth on May 19. These matches come either side of the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 16, creating a tight sequence of three important games within a short period.

The Palace fixture had originally been set for March 22 but was postponed due to City's involvement in the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal. The Bournemouth match was also moved because it conflicted with the FA Cup final. Discussions between the Premier League and the clubs involved eventually led to the revised dates.

City's concerns center on how long it took to confirm the rescheduled Palace game. The club believes the need for a new date was clear as early as February 4, when they secured their place in the Carabao Cup final. However, the decision was only finalized nearly three months later. League officials are understood to have delayed confirmation until after the FA Cup semi finals to provide greater clarity for supporters.

During that period, City proposed several alternative dates for the Palace match in late April and early May. Those options proved unworkable due to other fixture changes and Palace's involvement in European competition. Regulations around European matches also influenced scheduling, with efforts made to avoid clashes with major continental finals.

City also explored the possibility of rearranging the Bournemouth game earlier to create more recovery time before the FA Cup final and to allow their final league matches to be played at home. That proposal was not adopted. A suggestion to play Palace on May 19 was also considered impractical because it would have required Palace to play twice in a very short window.

As a result, City now face three matches in seven days, including travel between fixtures, during a period that could define their season. The team, currently second in the league, is still competing for major domestic honors, and the congested schedule adds another layer of difficulty to their pursuit of silverware.
