Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that he is receiving treatment for a "neurological dysfunction" after collapsing during a match for the second time in just four days.
The 23-year-old collapsed six minutes after coming on as a substitute during Bayern's 4-2 friendly victory over Heidenheim on Tuesday. Musiala appeared dazed as medical staff attended to him before helping him leave the pitch.
The incident came just days after Musiala collapsed during Bayern's 3-1 friendly win over RB Leipzig in Munich on Saturday.
Following the latest episode, Musiala took to Instagram to reassure fans and explain what he has been experiencing. He said doctors had diagnosed him with temporary and brief absence seizures linked to a neurological dysfunction.
"I've been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures, which are due to a neurological dysfunction," Musiala wrote.
He acknowledged that the episodes may appear frightening but said they are currently something he is learning to manage as part of his daily life.
"I know they seem scary at first glance, but for me, they're currently just part of my everyday life," he said.
Musiala also expressed confidence in his treatment and thanked those supporting him.
"I'm receiving excellent medical treatment and am very optimistic," he added. "FC Bayern and my family and friends are always by my side and supporting me on this journey."
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl had previously addressed the situation after Tuesday's match, saying the club was already aware of Musiala's condition.
"We knew about it and we are aware of the situation," Eberl said.
He added that Musiala would address the incident himself after leaving the field. At the time, the midfielder was in the dressing room recovering and getting changed.
Musiala's latest health concerns come after he endured a difficult period last season. The midfielder missed the first six months of the campaign after suffering an ankle fracture during the 2025 Club World Cup.
He eventually returned during the second half of the season and regained his place in the Germany squad. Musiala started three of Germany's four matches at the 2026 World Cup.
Despite the recent incidents, Musiala's message appeared intended to reassure supporters that he is receiving appropriate medical care and remains optimistic about his recovery. His statement also highlighted the support he continues to receive from Bayern, his family and close friends as he manages the condition.
