Liverpool have seen a £50 million bid for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh rejected as the Premier League champions continue their search for attacking reinforcements.
The 22-year-old Gambia international has made 73 appearances for Brighton since joining the club from Newcastle in 2024. During that time, he has scored 10 goals and registered nine assists.
Minteh, who cost Brighton £30 million, primarily operates on the right wing and has established himself as an important attacking option for the Seagulls. However, he is currently recovering from a leg injury suffered during a friendly against Roma earlier this month.
Liverpool are looking to strengthen their options in wide areas following the departure of Mohamed Salah. Manager Andoni Iraola has made improving his attacking depth a priority, and the club is expected to continue exploring potential targets before the transfer window closes.
The Reds have already added Victor Munoz to their attacking ranks this summer. The versatile forward, who can operate on the wing or through the middle, joined from Osasuna in a deal worth £34 million.
However, Liverpool's interest in Minteh indicates that they remain keen to add another player capable of providing pace, creativity and goals from wide positions.
Despite Brighton rejecting the initial £50 million proposal, Liverpool could continue monitoring the situation as they assess their options in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
Another major target remains Paris St-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. The 23-year-old France international is reportedly a priority for Liverpool and is open to a move to Anfield.
However, negotiations between the two clubs are currently complicated by a significant difference in their valuations of the player. PSG are believed to be seeking a fee in the region of £145 million, while Liverpool would prefer to reach an agreement closer to £100 million.
The gap between the two sides means a deal for Barcola is currently difficult, leaving Liverpool to consider alternative targets such as Minteh.
Minteh's performances in the Premier League have made him an attractive option, particularly given his age and potential for further development. His ability to play predominantly on the right also makes him a potential replacement for the attacking width Liverpool lost with Salah's departure.
For now, Brighton have made their position clear by rejecting Liverpool's opening £50 million offer. Liverpool will have to decide whether to return with an improved proposal or shift their focus to other attacking options before the transfer window closes.
