MANSORY, the well-renowned German luxury car modification firm, has now brought into view a six-wheeled behemoth, the “MANSORY Gronos 6x6,” based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W463A). It is limited to a run of just 10 units worldwide and heaves off-road capability and luxury to hitherto unseen levels.
The Gronos 6x6 retains the iconic design language of the G-Class while transforming it into a double-cab pickup. One of the highlights has got to be its rear-hinged rear doors that swing open similar to Rolls-Royce’s “suicide doors” for easy access in and out of the rear compartment. The vehicle features several bits of carbon fiber, each with a design chosen by the customer. Also fitted are four LED auxiliary headlights mounted on the roof, as well as a front-mounted cable winch that adds some serious toughness to the vehicle.
Inside, the Gronos 6x6 features an exclusive interior in which customers will be able to order types of leather, color, and style of stitching and carbon fiber designs. A really peculiar highlight is a roof lining with more than 3,000 LEDs embedded into it-to simulate starry skies-in a pattern customized to each individual owner’s wish.
Under its hood, the Gronos 6x6 features a very strong 900 horsepower engine developing a torque of 1,200 Nm. All these substantial improvements come by the fitment of new turbochargers with increased boost pressure to as high as 3.45 bar, an uprated intercooler, two high-pressure fuel pumps, optimised engine and transmission software, sports air filter, and a sport exhaust system. A third axle, with a newly developed portal gear and lockable differentials, with high-performance shock absorbers adds 250 mm each in height and width to ensure unparalleled off-road mobility.
The Gronos 6x6 is available with either on-road or off-road tires. On-road, it comes with 22-inch YN.5 rims wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires in size 325/55 R22, while for off-road adventures, 20-inch rims are wrapped in 37x12.50x20 tires. An integrated tire inflation system, which is controlled from the cockpit, allows for real-time adjustment of tire pressure to suit varying terrain conditions without having to exit the vehicle.
A limited series of 10, the MANSORY Gronos 6x6 represents luxury and off-road performance at their best. Each vehicle is hand-assembled to suit its owner’s taste and needs to be truly unique-a true collector’s item in the world of high-end automotive engineering.
