Gypsy Rose and Ryan Anderson got married while Gypsy was serving her jail sentence after partnering with her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn to kill her mother DeeDee. She was released after serving eight years and got a lot of social media attention and sympathy because of all the things her mother had made her go through.

DeeDee was a perpetrator of Munchausen by proxy, a psychological disorder that causes a parent to fake, exaggerate and induce an illness in order to attract attention. She confined Gypsy to a wheelchair, made her take several medication and eat through a feeding tube.

Gypsy and Ryan met after he wrote her a letter while she was still in prison. Following her early release in December, 2023, Gypsy gushed about their marriage on social media and the couple seemed to be so in love, however, around early March, Blanchard deleted her X and Instagram public accounts and disappeared from social media. After just three months of being together, the pair called it quits. She wrote on her Facebook that she had moved in with her parents and that she needs time to find herself with the support and guidance of her family and friends.

Gypsy was spotted spending time with her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker. They were spotted smoking together and even getting matching husky tattoos. Anderson told Daily Mail in April that she had no idea that Gypsy had strong feelings for her ex and that he is not really doing well.

“It was like she was on a leash,” Nadiya Vizier, Gypsy’s close friend told PEOPLE. “ What’s the difference between being locked in a prison cell and feeling locked in her own home and marriage? She didn’t want to put up with it anymore.”

In her filing, Gypsy said that she is in need and that Ryan, a special education teacher has the ability to pay and support her. She also explained that she is not at fault for the dissolution of the marriage. She also requested the court to deny spousal support to Ryan. Her restraining order comes about two weeks after she announced their breakup.
