Pete Davidson, known for his roles on "Saturday Night Live" and his stand-up comedy, has recently checked into a wellness facility for mental health treatment. This move follows a demanding period in his career and personal life, marked by intense public scrutiny and numerous high-profile projects.
Davidson, who has been a fixture in the entertainment industry, had planned performances in Florida and New Jersey. However, these shows have been canceled as he prioritizes his mental health. This decision comes after Davidson's hectic schedule, which included over 200 live stand-up shows, hosting the "Saturday Night Live" Season 49 premiere, and working on multiple film projects. Notably, he also released his second Netflix special, Turbo Fonzarelli, during this period.
Last summer, Davidson underwent treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder. According to People magazine, Davidson had previously checked into rehab in June 2023, addressing issues related to substance use and mental health. His treatment in 2023 followed a car crash incident in Beverly Hills, where he faced reckless driving charges. The Los Angeles Superior Court mandated an 18-month diversion program, including 50 hours of community service, which Davidson completed. The misdemeanor charge was dismissed on July 18, 2024, as reported by Rolling Stone.
Davidson's 2023 treatment also involved addressing his use of ketamine, a drug that has been explored for its potential benefits in treating depression. Davidson humorously referred to his recent rehab stint during his tour, acknowledging his struggles and the ongoing nature of his recovery.
Davidson's personal life has also seen significant changes. Earlier this month, he and actress Madelyn Cline ended their relationship after ten months. Despite these difficulties, Davidson has remained a prominent figure in entertainment, contributing to various projects including the series Bupkis and major film roles in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Dumb Money, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Davidson's decision to check into a wellness facility highlights the ongoing importance of mental health care, even for high-profile individuals. His representatives have not yet commented on his current situation, but the move underscores a growing awareness of the need for mental health support across all aspects of life.
