Steve Martin and Martin Short found a creative way to celebrate Selena Gomez's Emmy nomination from a distance! The 32-year-old actress shared with The Hollywood Reporter that her co-stars sent her a thoughtful gift after she was nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Only Murders in the Building last month.
"I received flowers from [Martin Short and Steve Martin]," Gomez mentioned. "I'm in L.A., Marty is constantly traveling, and Steve is in New York. So, we can't physically be together, but we'll celebrate when we reunite." She described the nomination as "crazy," adding, "I'm just honored to be part of a show that's been recognized. I feel incredibly lucky, especially with so many great shows out there. Just being considered for this opportunity is such an honor."
"In my mind, I feel like I've already won," she added.
Last month, ahead of her 32nd birthday, Gomez shared a heartfelt photo on Instagram with Martin, 78, and Short, 74, reflecting on her time with her Only Murders in the Building co-stars. In the caption, Gomez, who turned 32 on July 22, wrote: "Reflecting on my upcoming birthday, I realize how grateful I am to be surrounded by people who make me better, challenge me, and remind me daily that every moment is a gift."
"That's my pure joy. I thank God for the era I'm in. It's been the best yet 🤓," she added.
In April, Martin and Short praised Gomez during an interview with PEOPLE, having worked together for over three years on Only Murders in the Building. "Our friendship just keeps deepening," Short said. "She's such a lovely person, so talented, and has this incredible aura and spirit. Our bond just keeps growing."
Her professionalism has also impressed her co-stars, who have been friends for 40 years. "We didn't really know Selena at first, and we weren't sure what to expect," Martin explained. "But she's incredibly smart and has a great personality. And she's never late."
"No," Short concurred.
"And that's a big deal when you're making a show," Martin continued. "If people are waiting around wondering where someone is, it can be frustrating. But she's always on time... We all head down the steps together. It's fantastic. It really speaks to her character and professionalism."
