Remaining inside the Olympic Village is the first rule of the village. During the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Olympian Ryan Lochte provided information about Team USA policies about the Olympic Village, which is the location where competing nations house their athletes. The professional swimmer, who represented Team USA in four Summer Olympics from 2004 to 2016, mentioned in a TikTok video that his wife, Kayla Lochte, shared on August 6 that swimmers must remain in the village.
To be clear, Kayla, who has children with Ryan, ages 7 and 5, Liv, age 5, and 13-month-old Georgia June, asked the 40-year-old, "I assume the United States has stricter laws than other nations?" and he responded in the affirmative.
"However, you can depart for specific purposes." Then Kayla made a suggestion, which Ryan quickly rejected with a "no."
The twelve-time Olympian claimed that swimmers needed their head coach's approval for specific special events.
After Brazilian swimmer Ana Carolina Vieira was disqualified from this year's competition for leaving the grounds with her colleague Gabriel Santos after the Opening Ceremony on July 26, the regulations governing the Olympic village have been the subject of much discussion.
The 22-year-old competitor then claimed that her Olympic ambition was dashed due to a "communication failure."
After Michael Phelps, Ryan is the second-most decorated American swimmer, so controversy surrounding the Olympics is nothing new to her. Ryan stated in 2016 that at the Rio Olympics, he and three other American swimmers, Gunnar Bentz, Jimmy Feigen, and Jack Conger, were robbed at gunpoint at a gas station. Ryan eventually acknowledged that he had overstated the event, which resulted in charges of fraudulently reporting a crime being dropped and a 10-month suspension from US Swimming.
Despite withdrawing from competition following his inability to secure a spot in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, he has been in Paris, supporting his former comrades.
Ryan Murphy was one of them, and he found out after winning the medal in the 100-meter backstroke that he and his spouse Bridget were expecting a daughter—to which the What Would Ryan Lochte Do? raved about on the internet.
He enthusiastically posted on Instagram on July 29. "Representing #teamusa, @ryan_f_murphy not only collected his medal in the 100 backstroke tonight, but also found out he and his wife are having a baby girl!!!" "Whoa! Congratulations, my man; you have my admiration. Excellent work.
