Numerous arrests have been made by the authorities in relation to Johnny's shooting death. According to a press statement, the Los Angeles Police Department detained four individuals on August 15 as part of their investigation into the homicide of the General Hospital actor.
According to authorities, 18-year-olds Robert Barceleau, Leonel Gutierrez, and Sergio Estrada were all placed under custody on murder-related charges, and 22-year-old Frank Olano was placed under arrest on an accessory after the fact warrant.
It was unknown to E! News whether the four had hired attorneys to represent them.
Wactor's mother told NBC Los Angeles at the time that he was shot and died on May 25 in downtown Los Angeles after he saw robbers fiddling with a car.
Wactor was found suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound by officers who responded to a shooting call at 3:25 a.m., according to an LAPD press statement. After being transported to a nearby hospital, the soap opera star was declared deceased.
According to witness accounts, Wactor had left his job as a bartender at a nearby establishment and strolled towards his car, according to an LAPD press release dated May 28. Wactor was accosted by three people who had his car raised on a floor jack and were attempting to take the catalytic converter when he got to his car. One of the people shot the victim without provoking her."
The three suspects, according to the police, drove off in a dark vehicle.
After Wactor passed away, Anita Joy, a coworker of his, went on to describe the 37-year-old's valiant dying moments, saying that they were leaving the bar together when they saw the men.
"We approached the men warily, wondering what they were doing, at first thinking the car was being towed," she wrote on Instagram on May 29. "We were no threat, and Johnny kept his cool as he always did, simply stating that it was his car and for them to leave. Hands open to his sides in peace."
When Wactor stepped in front of her to protect her from the attackers, she claimed that an "instant" after, they were attacked.
"As I heard the shot ring into the night, he forcefully tumbled back into my arms," she said. "I cried out, 'Hunny, are you okay?' as I reached for him. And all he could say was "Nope!" Snap! After we fell into the pavement, I tried to support his body by pushing my legs beneath him and yelling for aid and for him to stay with me."
Joy expressed that she was "utterly heartbroken and so very angry" about her buddy of eight years' death, saying that she witnessed it happen in her arms.
"My only peace is that I was with him and this didn't happen to him alone,” she wrote this. “Alone other peace will be seeing these awful men brought to justice.
