Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Hollywood actress Dakota Johnson have reportedly ended their engagement, bringing their seven-year relationship to a close. The couple, who first sparked romance rumors in 2017, have decided to part ways after several years of being together.

According to sources, the decision to end their engagement was mutual and stemmed from the realization that their demanding schedules and personal commitments were making it difficult to sustain their relationship long-term.

A source close to the couple revealed, "Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They'll always have love for each other, but they've both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term." This sentiment was echoed by another insider who mentioned that their "personal priorities, passions, and work commitments" did not "naturally intertwine with each other."

The couple's relationship had its fair share of ups and downs. In 2019, they reportedly went through a brief separation before reuniting. At that time, it was speculated that Chris's desire to start a family was a contributing factor to their temporary split.

Chris Martin, 47, has been on tour with Coldplay in Europe, while Dakota Johnson, 34, has been promoting her upcoming movie "Materialists" in the United States. The physical distance and their respective professional commitments have undoubtedly added strain to their relationship. Dakota's absence from Coldplay's recent performances in Germany during their Music of the Spheres world tour has only intensified rumors about the state of their relationship.

The couple's engagement had been a topic of interest for many, especially after Dakota was seen without her prominent engagement ring while out walking her dog last weekend. This led to increased speculation about their relationship status. Despite being a regular at Chris's gigs and often seen dancing along to his performances, Dakota's absence from recent events hinted at underlying issues.

Reflecting on their relationship, a source shared, "They wanted it to work, but it just hasn't, and they've now accepted it is best to move on."
