Mamie Laverock, the young actress known for her role in When Calls the Heart, has made tremendous progress in her recovery after a life-threatening accident in May. The 20-year-old actress, who fell from a five-story balcony at a Vancouver medical center, has finally returned home after months of intensive care and rehabilitation.
The milestone was celebrated by her family on August 19, with an emotional post on Mamie's official Facebook page, stating, "Dreams do come true. Welcome home Mamie." The family marked the occasion with a rainbow-themed celebration, complete with a balloon arch, colorful cake, and a heartfelt "Home sweet home" sign featuring a picture of Mamie.
A video shared by the family showed Mamie's return home in an ambulance, where she was warmly greeted by her loved ones. Despite being strapped into a bed, Mamie reacted with excitement, exclaiming, "Oh nice!" as the back of the emergency vehicle was opened.
Mamie's recovery journey has been nothing short of miraculous. Earlier this month, she took her first steps since the accident, an achievement captured in a video posted on August 2. Supported by two medical workers and a walker, Mamie managed to stand and take a few wobbly steps, much to the delight and encouragement of her family, who cheered her on.
The actress's ordeal began on May 26, when she suffered a devastating fall while being treated for another medical emergency. The accident left her body "shattered," and her family has since expressed immense gratitude for the medical professionals who have cared for her. In a statement shared on their GoFundMe page in June, Mamie's mother, Nicole Rockmann, stepfather, Rob Compton, and father, John Laverock, described the excruciating pain Mamie has endured but also highlighted her unyielding determination.
The family has indicated their intention to pursue legal action against St. Paul's Hospital, where the fall occurred. Nicole emphasized the miraculous nature of Mamie's survival, saying, "This is an absolute miracle and there will be accountability. All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she's alive and that she's fighting and that she's strong."
As Mamie continues to recover, her story serves as a testament to her strength and resilience, offering hope and inspiration to all who have followed her journey.
