Andrew Tate has been placed under house arrest in Romania as authorities investigate new allegations involving minors. This development adds to the serious charges of human trafficking and rape that Tate already faces.
On August 22, 2024, a Romanian court ordered Tate's house arrest following a raid on his home. The raid was part of a broader investigation by Romania's anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, which is looking into allegations of human trafficking, the trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, influencing statements, and money laundering. The investigation involves a total of 35 alleged victims, including a woman who was 15 at the time.
Tate, along with his brother Tristan, was among six individuals detained in connection with these allegations. While Tristan has been placed under lighter restrictions, prosecutors have requested that Andrew Tate be detained for an additional 30 days. The brothers have consistently denied all charges against them.
In a statement to the press, Tate vehemently denied the allegations, stating, "This is a set-up. It is absolutely disgusting. Thirty of those girls say we have done nothing wrong. Two are the mothers of our children, two have never even been here to Romania." He described the new allegations as "pathetic" and that the prosecutors were desperate and "making up a lot."
Tate's spokesperson, Mateea Petrescu, commented on the situation, saying, "Although the charges in the search warrant are not yet fully clarified, they include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering."
The new allegations have intensified the scrutiny on Tate, who has a significant following on social media platforms like TikTok and X .
Romania's DIICOT has accused the suspects of grooming "vulnerable" individuals and forcing them to produce pornographic material for online broadcast. One of the foreign men involved is alleged to have forced a 17-year-old foreign citizen to "perform sexual acts" for online content, keeping all the profits, which amounted to $1.5 million. This same individual is also accused of having sexual relations with a girl who was 15 years old when they met.
