In a recent interview with BuzzFeed Celeb, rising star Jenna Ortega, 21, addressed the "craziest" rumor she's encountered about herself an alleged romantic involvement with actor Johnny Depp, 61. The "Wednesday" actress firmly rejected the speculation, calling it "so insane to me."
The rumors, which surfaced in 2023, suggested Ortega and Depp were in a "serious relationship." Ortega recounted, "I never spoke on that, I never said anything like that," emphasizing the absurdity of the claims. She even shared an anecdote about her "Death of a Unicorn" co-star Richard E. Grant questioning her about the supposed relationship, to which she responded with laughter, stating, "I don't know that person."
The gossip originated from celebrity gossip account DeuxMoi, which claimed the pair had been spotted together and were possibly collaborating on "Beetlejuice 2." Both Ortega and Depp's representatives swiftly denied these allegations.
Ortega took to Instagram at the time, writing, "This is so ridiculous I can't even laugh. I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone." Depp's representative echoed this sentiment, telling NME, "Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her."
The "Scream VI" star has been notably private about her personal life. In a previous interview with Elle, she expressed contentment in being single, admitting that "the idea of relationships stresses" her out.
Meanwhile, Depp, following his high-profile defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, has been reportedly "casually" dating Russian model Yulia Vlasova, 28. However, a source told People in July that the actor is currently focused on his career rather than romantic pursuits.
