The Kardashian- Jenner family have played a major role in setting beauty and fashion trends to a point where fans alter their faces and bodies to look like them. Kylie Jenner, in the early stages of their rise to fame, managed to convince fans to buy her lip liners for fuller lips like hers, despite having lip fillers.
31 year old, model and influencer, Jennifer Pamplona, has hit the headlines after spending over $1M to look like reality star and business mogul, Kim Kardashian. Doctors have revealed that she has a low chance of conceiving children due to complications from buttocks fillers.
“Since I was young, I imagined the moment I would have my own children and start a family. Unfortunately, I now find myself unable to fulfil this dream due to the complications caused by PMMA,” she said. “Now I see that being destroyed by something I thought was a solution to improve my appearance. The suffering is immense, and the pain of not being able to create life is something I never imagined facing.”
Polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) is a substance used in creating dermal fillers, often for improving the skin’s contour or helping to fix scarring. It’s also the go-to for buttock augmentations. They are also used to correct facial lines and features, however, there are risks involved, including inflammation, yellowing of the skin, infections and even death. Pamplona has had more than 30 surgical procedures.
According to Dr Carlos Rios, the plastic surgeon specializing in Jennifer's case, she began experiencing severe pain in her buttocks and legs after undergoing the procedure more than 10 years ago. He claims that what the model is going through is a matter of “life and death.” He claims that Pamplona's case is as a result of addiction, a self-produced documentary.
