Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's relationship has been a journey of highs and lows, marked by a significant year-long split that ultimately brought them closer together. In an interview on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Perry shared the reasons behind their temporary separation and how it transformed their relationship.

The couple first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes afterparty, where they bonded over a shared love for burgers. Despite the initial connection, their relationship faced challenges early on. Perry admitted, "We weren't really in it from day one. He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had to do a lot of real work."

In 2017, Bloom attended a week-long retreat called The Hoffman Process, which focuses on rewiring negative patterns of thought and behavior. This experience was pivotal for him, but it also showed the differences in their relationship goals. Perry explained, "He went there, and he wasn't playing that cat-mouse game anymore. And I was like, 'This is boring. I'm moving on.' I was so used to this push-pull. Because once you have it. I was playing games."

The separation was a difficult period for both, but it also provided them with the space to grow individually. Perry eventually attended the same retreat towards the end of their separation. Reflecting on this experience, she said, "I finally went to Hoffman towards the end of that year that we were separated, and I got the tools. We spoke the same language."

Perry credits the retreat and meditation for saving her life during a hard time. "I would be dead without it. I would not be on this planet without that process and meditation. Because the noise got so large. When Witness came out and things started to shift, and I thought I really loved myself. I thought I really had that center, but actually that core was created from outside validation. It just helped me rewire what I think about myself, and it helped me connect my head to my heart."

Perry emphasized the importance of evolving together, stating, "Orlando and I, we do a lot of couple's therapy and we want to evolve. That's why we're in this relationship – to become better humans so that we can raise this amazing human being." In 2020, They welcomed, Daisy Dove, their daughter.
